Answers…
1. What is Water-Assisted Liposuction or WAL?
It is a totally revolutionary liposuction technique and is the first of its kind in the United States. It offers a fast, gentle, minimally invasive, and effective alternative to other liposuction techniques by using the flow of water to dislodge fat. The results of the Body-Jet® procedure are astounding.
2. How does the Body-Jet® procedure work?
Using a gentle, pulsating spray of fluid, the Body-Jet® dislodges fat gently and without brute force. While fat is loosened and separated from the connective tissue by the pulsating fluid spray, it is simultaneously removed. The Body-Jet® also removes fluids from the patient as quickly as the fluids are introduced. As a result, minimal discomfort, less bruising and tissue trauma, and a faster more accurate procedure is possible.
The Body-Jet® lipo delivers pulses of saline fluids to gently dislodge fat for removal eliminating the need for brute movement of a suction tube like the case with traditional liposuction. The Body-Jet® requires a much less amount of tumescent fluids (saline, adrenaline, and lidocaine mixture) as opposed to the traditional liposuction which requires a much larger mixture in its lengthy pre-infiltration phase. As a result, much less medication is required with the Body-Jet® and the physician is able to perform the procedure with less time, more accuracy, and superior cosmetic results.
4. What areas can be treated with the Body-Jet®?
Any area with excess fat deposits may be treated. The most common areas are the abdomen, thighs, hips, knees, arms and beneath the chin. Due to the speed and low downtime of the Body-Jet® lipo procedure, patients often choose to treat multiple problem areas at one time. They can also choose to space out treatments if desired.
5. When am I able to return to normal activity?
Since recovery is easy and quick with the Body-Jet® lipo procedure, many patients report being almost pain-free after just a few days and most are thrilled with how quickly they are able to return to normal activity, including exercise.
6. Is the lipo procedure with the Body-Jet® permanent?
In general, fat cells that are removed by the procedure do not grow back. Typically, any post procedure weight gain is distributed elsewhere on the body. It is worth mentioning however, that the Body-Jet® procedure is a body-contouring or body-sculpting procedure and not a weight-loss procedure.
In general the best candidates for such procedure are those with a specific treatment area that does not respond well to diet or exercise, are in good health, are within 30% of their ideal body weight, and most of all, have realistic expectations.
