FAQs | What should I bear in mind when considering a treatment?First of all you should always contact a qualified practitioner to be assured that the treatment will be performed correctly. Your treatment should be performed in a medical environment that affords you privacy and is spotlessly clean. You may want to request to see your chosen clinician’s training certificate and insurance certificate to ensure they are appropriately trained and insured for the treatment they are providing. Who is qualified to administer Restylane treatments?Only a medically qualified practitioner should perform a Restylane treatment. Depending on your country’s legislation, this may include plastic surgeons, cosmetic clinicians, dermatologists, cosmetic dentists, or aesthetic nurses. If in doubt, please contact Galderma. What should I expect from my chosen clinician? You should receive comprehensive information and a detailed explanation regarding the treatment. What precautions should my healthcare professional advise me about? There are several important precautions to discuss with your healthcare practitioner to ensure satisfactory results and avoid any complications. Discuss with your healthcare practitioner the following:
How is Restylane administered?First, the clinician disinfects the area to be treated. A small amount of Restylane Fillers or Restylane Skinboosters is then injected into the skin through a fine needle or blunt micro-cannula to fill wrinkles or add volume, shape your face or lips or rejuvenate your skin. After injection, your practitioner may gently massage the treated area to even out the result. How long does the treatment take?A treatment with Restylane does not take long. Depending on the area and indication, it takes approximately 15-45 minutes. A touch-up treatment is sometimes performed approximately two weeks after the initial treatment to optimize the results Is the treatment painful? Some people may experience the treatment as a mild discomfort. Many Restylane products contain an integrated local anaesthetic, lidocaine, to provide you with a more comfortable treatment experience, and Restylane also comes with special needles for easy skin penetration. It is important when discussing your medical history to tell your practitioner everything, including all medicines that you are taking, any present and past allergies and their seriousness, and all current or past medical conditions you have had. Your clinician will discuss potential side effects from the injection of Restylane and how serious they may be. You should also inform your practitioner if you have received previous aesthetic treatments, both surgical and non-surgical Who should not have a Restylane treatment?Patients with a known allergy to hyaluronic acid based products should not undergo treatment, nor should patients with bleeding disorders, or active skin disease such as inflammation, infection or tumors in or near the area to be treated. Discuss contraindications, warnings and precautions with your healthcare practitioner before Restylane treatment. Can I have a Restylane treatment if I am pregnant? These products have not been tested in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Who manufactures Restylane?Restylane is manufactured by Q-Med, a Swedish company within Galderma. Galderma, a pharmaceutical company with over 6,000 employees worldwide, specializes in dermatology and is present in more than 100 countries. To read more about Galderma visit: www.galderma.com How long do the effects of the treatment last?As Restylane is a non-permanent injectable product, the effect gradually diminishes with time. In order to maintain the aesthetic result, top-up treatments are recommended. Results may vary depending on treatments areas. What is a maintenance/top-up treatment?Since Restylane treatments are clinically proven for gradually improving skin quality, it is recommended to have top up treatment for maintaining the results achieved in the initial treatment. Top-up treatments will most likely require lower volumes of Restylane, depending on the injecting area and the time gaps between the treatments. It has been shown in a clinical study that with just two maintenance (top-up) treatments Restylane is proven to last up to 36 months. What should I apply or avoid after the treatment?Avoid applying make-up to the skin immediately after treatment.
What are the possible side effects? The most common side effects include treatment site reactions such as swelling, bruising, redness, pain, and tenderness. These side effects generally disappear within one week after injection. Other potential side effects can occur with dermal filler or Skinboosters injections. You should discuss the potential treatment risks with your healthcare practitioner. |
